M.O.R.E.
Experiencing the abundant life Christ promised

Jesus said that He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Yet, in this world we continue to experience less than His best for us. It is His desire that we should have more life. This is a life that is beyond the love of self, the quest for entertainment, the accumulation of stuff, and the satisfaction of our senses. It is a life where there is meaning, opportunities, relationships and ethical non-negotiables. It is a life of M.O.R.E.!

Word

of the week

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived..

Colossians 3:5-7

It is so easy for us to get caught up in how the world does things that we tend to forget the full benefit of being in Christ. With all of its allure and enticements, we can easily be knocked off our path and respond to it in a way that is less than Godly. What's more, like any habit, the more we react in one manner the more it becomes entrenched in our lives. In Colossians Paul reminds us of the perils of our broken nature and urges us to put those impulses to death. They bring with them judgment at the seat of the Almighty. Yet, in Christ we are no longer defined by what we used to do. Instead, in Him we have new life. Hence, Paul reminds us that, "You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived." We no longer have to live like that. Instead, we have the freedom in Jesus to move beyond that and demonstrate in Him and to the world the ability to be overcomes! Therefore, put that stuff to death that Christ might reign in you!

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed.”
